Why this happens

Black garlic is produced by ageing regular garlic under controlled heat and humidity. This process changes the chemical makeup but does not create compounds that interfere with the absorption or metabolism of B vitamins. Both are water-soluble and processed by the body without competing for the same pathways.

You can safely take these together. As with any supplement, it is best to follow the dosage instructions on the product packaging. If you have an upcoming surgery, inform your doctor about the black garlic, as high doses of garlic can sometimes thin the blood.

Surgery or dental procedures

Black garlic can thin the blood and increase the risk of bleeding. You must stop taking it at least two weeks before any scheduled surgery or dental work.

Bleeding disorders or use of blood-thinning medication (e.g. warfarin, aspirin)

Black garlic may enhance the effect of blood-thinning medicines, significantly increasing your risk of bruising or bleeding.

Alcohol

Black garlic may have a mild blood-thinning effect. While there is no direct contraindication, excessive alcohol consumption can also thin the blood and increase the risk of bleeding or bruising. Use alcohol in moderation.

Caffeine (Coffee/Tea)

Caffeine acts as a mild diuretic and can increase the excretion of water-soluble vitamins like the B complex. Additionally, tannins in tea and coffee can interfere with the absorption of certain B vitamins. It is best to take your supplement at least an hour before or after drinking tea or coffee.
