Can I take Maitake and White button together?

Why this happens

Maitake (Grifola frondosa) and white button mushrooms (Agaricus bisporus) do not interfere with each other's absorption or breakdown in the body. They have different nutritional profiles but do not have conflicting biological effects.

It is safe to consume these mushrooms together as part of a balanced diet. However, if you are taking maitake as a concentrated supplement rather than food, you should inform your doctor if you are also taking medications for diabetes or high blood pressure, as maitake may have a mild additive effect on those conditions.

Bleeding disorders or surgery

Maitake may slow blood clotting and increase the risk of bleeding. You must stop taking these at least 2 weeks before any scheduled surgery. Use with caution if you are taking blood-thinning medications like warfarin or aspirin.

Maitake may lower blood sugar levels. If you take diabetes medications, using maitake could cause your blood sugar to drop too low (hypoglycaemia).

Maitake can increase immune system activity, which may worsen the symptoms of autoimmune diseases. Avoid use if you have these conditions.

Low blood pressure (Hypotension)

Maitake may lower blood pressure. If you already have low blood pressure or take medication to control high blood pressure, they could cause your blood pressure to drop too low.

Alcohol

It is best to avoid or strictly limit alcohol when taking Maitake. Both alcohol and certain compounds in medicinal mushrooms can affect liver function, and combining them may increase the strain on your liver.
