There are no known harmful interactions between shiitake mushrooms and white button mushrooms when eaten as part of a normal diet.
Why this happens
Both are edible fungi that are processed by the body as food. They do not interfere with each other's absorption or breakdown in the body.
What you should do
It is safe to consume these mushrooms together. However, if you are taking medicinal shiitake supplements (which are much more concentrated than food), always check with a healthcare professional, especially if you are on blood-thinning medication.
Important precautions
Bleeding disorders or surgery
These supplements may slow blood clotting and increase the risk of bleeding. You must stop taking these at least 2 weeks before any scheduled surgery. Use with caution if you are taking blood-thinning medications like warfarin or aspirin.
Diabetes
These supplements can lower blood sugar levels. If you are taking insulin or other diabetes medications, monitor your blood sugar closely as your dose may need adjustment to prevent hypoglycaemia (dangerously low blood sugar).
Auto-immune conditions (e.g., multiple sclerosis, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis)
These supplements can increase immune system activity, which may worsen the symptoms of autoimmune diseases. Avoid use if you have these conditions.
Shiitake dermatitis
Eating raw or undercooked shiitake mushrooms can cause a severe, itchy skin rash (flagellate dermatitis) that looks like whip marks. Ensure mushrooms are thoroughly cooked before consumption.
Food and drink warnings
Alcohol
It is best to avoid or strictly limit alcohol when taking medicinal mushrooms. Both alcohol and certain compounds in these mushrooms are processed by the liver; combining them may increase the strain on your liver or alter how the supplements are metabolised.
General Food Intake
These medicinal mushrooms contain complex polysaccharides (beta-glucans). For the best absorption, it is often recommended to take them on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before a meal, or with a small amount of Vitamin C (such as a small glass of orange juice) which may help the body absorb the active compounds.

Can I take Magnesium and Wegovy flextouch together?
There is no known direct interaction between magnesium supplements and Wegovy (semaglutide). However, both can affect your digestive system. Wegovy slows down how quickly your stomach empties, which could theoretically change how quickly your body absorbs magnesium, though this is rarely a clinical concern. Additionally, both can cause side effects like nausea or changes in bowel habits (magnesium often softens stools, while Wegovy can cause constipation or diarrhoea).

Can I take Lisinopril and Potassium together?
Taking lisinopril and potassium supplements together can cause the levels of potassium in your blood to become dangerously high (a condition called hyperkalaemia). While your body needs potassium for your heart and muscles to work, too much of it can lead to serious heart rhythm problems or even cause the heart to stop. Symptoms of high potassium can include muscle weakness, tingling sensations, or palpitations, but often there are no symptoms until the level is very high.
